If you’ve decided to book a thermal circuit at Balneario de Fitero, you won’t regret it. Bathing in our thermal waters is a real treat and has direct health benefits, which will be just the thing if you need to unwind.
And if you’ve decided to stay for a few days, the experience will be even more enjoyable. An unforgettable getaway!
The best thing is that, as well as our spa, there are plenty of other things to see in Fitero and the surrounding area. Here are some of the highlights you shouldn’t miss:
A visit to Fitero Monastery: history and culture just a stone’s throw away
Looking for one of the best ways to round off your spa break? Why not visit the Monastery of Santa María la Real in Fitero, the first Cistercian monastery on the Iberian Peninsula and… just a few minutes’ drive from the Balneario de Fitero!
It’s the perfect way to add a bit of a cultural twist to your weekend of relaxation and unwinding.
We recommend taking a stroll around the area, exploring its impressive cloister and soaking up the peaceful atmosphere of the town.

This place is particularly worth a visit if you enjoy leisurely cultural tourism – the kind you savour at your own pace, turning a relaxing getaway into a much more enriching experience. And there’s nothing quite like the Cistercian town of Fitero to make your trip even more special.
Nature trails in Navarre: gentle walks to help you unwind
After a spa session, your body craves some peace and quiet. And few things go better with that feeling than a leisurely stroll surrounded by nature, don’t you think? Luckily, near the Balneario de Fitero you’ll find several perfect spots to breathe in the fresh air and explore the Navarran countryside at your own pace:
- One of the most highly recommended options is to visit the Roscas de Fitero, a unique natural site featuring curious rock formations shaped by erosion over time. We invite you to explore it on foot or by bike, following a signposted route of just over 8 kilometres (an easy walk of around 2.5 hours).
- You could also opt for an easy route along the banks of the River Alhama, or for short rides along country lanes and through open countryside, which encourage you to slow down and connect with your surroundings.
- Although, of course, if there’s one place you simply must visit during your stay, it’s the Bardenas Reales. This spectacular semi-desert landscape, renowned for its rock formations and incredible views, is the perfect way to round off your getaway with a unique experience in the heart of nature.

Day trips from Fitero: the must-see villages you should visit
And yes, there are also several charming villages near Fitero if you fancy hopping in the car and exploring Navarre during your trip. The best thing is that many of them are just a short drive away, so they’re perfect for a morning or afternoon outing:
- Tudela. A town brimming with atmosphere, historic streets and spectacular cuisine. It is the capital of the Ribera region, the town of vegetables and the three cultures. Wandering through its old town, stepping inside its cathedral or strolling through the Plaza de los Fueros could be the perfect addition to your wellness weekend. And if you also decide to sample the local cuisine in one of Tudela’s restaurants or bars, you’re in for a real treat.
- Olite. It’s well worth a visit to one of the prettiest villages in Navarre to see the impressive Olite Castle (Royal Palace). Its cobbled streets, terraces and medieval atmosphere will make your visit a real treat.
- Tarazona. Just a short distance from Fitero lies this little gem of Aragon, famous for the Cathedral of Santa María de la Huerta—designated a Site of Cultural Interest—and for the charm of its historic centre. We recommend visiting its unique octagonal bullring and taking a stroll through its Jewish quarter.
- Contrebia Leucade. Fancy a change of pace? Don’t miss this spectacular Celtiberian archaeological site, surrounded by nature. History, scenery and tranquillity – what more could you ask for?
